St. Louis Art Museum
Visiting the Saint Louis Art Museum
Another wonderful place to visit, within Forest Park in St. Louis is the St. Louis Art Museum. Not only do they have wonderful works of art inside, but the area around the museum, called the Grand Basin and Art Hill, are also quite beautiful to see. The pictures seen throughout this post were taken this spring.
Admission to the art museum is always free, with the exception of special events. And with three floors of art on display, you won't quickly run out of great art to view.
In addition to mainstays on display at the museum, there are frequently traveling displays or special exhibits in the main exhibition area. Viewing the special exhibits does require a ticket, but you will find it is worth it. You may discover a membership is more cost effective if you want to see multiple exhibits in the year.
Membership at the art museum gets you unlimited, free entry to see special exhibits, as well as reduced parking fees at the underground garage, and some other perks. Although there is garage parking available for a fee, there is typically plenty of parking in the nearby lots for free.
Current Exhibit at St. Louis Art Museum
Currently, the exhibition on display is Millet and Modern Art. This exhibit features many works from Jean-François Millet and others, whose art was influenced by Millet. Some other artists featured include Van Gogh, Dalí, Seurat, Pissarro, and many more. I highly recommend seeing this exhibit, while you can. After reopening, the art museum has extended the dates of this exhibit through Labor Day, September 7, 2020.
If you have any interest in art, whatsoever, the St. Louis Art Museum has something for you. You don't have to be an art history buff to enjoy your visit. However, you may learn a thing or two on your visit, as you enjoy strolling through the museum and viewing beautiful works of art. The St. Louis Art Museum is one of many gems I recommend seeing if you visit St. Louis, Missouri.
