Las Vegas - First Time Visitors

Whether you love the party atmosphere, go for the gambling, or are a bit skeptical of Las Vegas like I was, that city really does have something for everyone. Outside of the neon lights and extravagant hotels and casinos, Las Vegas is a convenient place to fly into on your way to numerous destinations, including Hoover Dam, Zion National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Death Valley National Park, and much more. As first time Vegas visitors ourselves, let me share some tips we found useful:
  1. Go during the week. To avoid the extra crowds and get better rates at hotels, book a stay on the strip during the week, where you can easily walk to many places you want to see.
  2. Walk into and browse the different hotels and casinos. Each one has a unique theme to attract visitors. It is free to browse, but be aware, you can find it difficult to find your way out sometimes. There are lots of one-of-a-kind attractions all along the strip.
  3. CVS and Walgreens are your friend. If you do want to enjoy drinks, the strip allows open containers and you will save money buying individual drinks to-go at one of many convenient locations.
  4. Take advantage of rideshare apps and public transit. Las Vegas is super user-friendly for taking rides in Uber or Lyft. If you get tired walking up and down the strip, you can buy day passes for the RTC public transit bus.
  5. See a show. You definitely won't regret it.
  6. A day or two is plenty of time to spend there before going elsewhere on your trip.
